Frequently Asked Questions

Home Help & Companionship Your Questions Answered.

What areas do you cover?

I support clients locally across Diss, Hopton, Garboldisham, Roydon, Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding South Norfolk and Mid Suffolk villages.

Will I see a different person each week?

No. Unlike larger agencies with high staff turnover, I am the same familiar face who visits every single time. This helps build a true friendship and consistent routine.

How long are your visits?

I recommend a minimum two-hour visit. This allows enough time for meaningful companionship and practical support without the visit feeling rushed. A two-hour visit can include a combination of companionship, shopping and errands, light housekeeping, preparing a simple meal, attending appointments or simply getting out and about.

Do I need to book regular weekly visits?

Not necessarily. Support can be arranged around individual circumstances. Regular weekly visits are ideal for building familiarity and a consistent routine, but please contact Sara to discuss the type of support you or your loved one needs.

Can you take me or my loved one to appointments and shops?

Yes. I can provide companionship and transport for appointments, shopping, errands and social activities, so you or your loved one has a familiar person alongside them throughout the outing.

What happens before the first visit?

Before regular support begins, I like to have a friendly, no-obligation chat with you and, where appropriate, your family. This gives us the opportunity to discuss the support you're looking for, routines, preferences and the things that are important to you, and to make sure Close to Home Support is the right fit.

Do you provide medical or personal care?

Close to Home Support provides strictly non-medical, companionship, home help, and practical support. I do not offer clinical nursing care.

Are you fully insured and vetted?

Absolutely, for your complete peace of mind, I am fully insured, Enhanced DBS checked, and First Aid trained. I also bring over 20 years of sector experience, including working as a Dementia Team Leader.

How do you keep families informed?

I provide regular, light touch updates directly to family members after my visits, ensuring total peace of mind for adult children who may live further away. Clients will have their own personal weekly planners, also A Little Book About Me containing information on my life, my preferences, my home, my pets, the little things that matter, my routines likes and dislikes.

How much does support cost?

Every person's needs are a little different, so I’m happy to discuss the support you’re looking for before arranging visits. I recommend a minimum two-hour visit, allowing plenty of time for meaningful companionship and practical help without feeling rushed.

Please contact me for current pricing and a friendly, no-obligation chat about what would work best for you or your loved one.

What happens when I first get in touch?

Getting in touch doesn’t commit you to anything. I’ll have a friendly, no-obligation chat with you to understand a little more about the support you or your loved one may need.

We can talk about routines, interests, practical help, how often you might like me to visit and any particular concerns you or your family have.

It’s also an opportunity to ask me any questions and make sure Close to Home Support feels right for you before arranging anything.
